
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called for renewed international focus on the Rohingya crisis, stressing the urgent need for their safe and dignified repatriation to Myanmar.In a message marking World Refugee Day on Thursday night, Tarique said, "A clear message must be given to the world that the Rohingya problem is very serious."He said that the interim government to intensify diplomatic efforts with Myanmar to create conditions for the return of over 1.4 million Rohingyas currently living in camps in Cox's Bazar.Drawing a parallel with Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War, Tarique recalled the mass displacement of Bangladeshis, saying the memory still lives on.
He praised the people of Bangladesh for their continued humanitarian support, calling it “a shining example of humanity.”
Reaffirming BNP’s solidarity with World Refugee Day, he called on the international community and donor agencies to pressure Myanmar for dignified Rohingya repatriation.
